How do I get a patent on my artwork?

It is unclear whether you wish to patent a method of creating artwork as in some new chemical or object that would make artwork easier to do. If this is not the case, perhaps you wish to protect the artwork done already such as paintings or logos - this would not require a patent but a copyright.
