Excellent Idea

Posted by Anonymous . updated on 2/26/2009
I have a idea that would be in every home. (No Doubt in My Mind :-))  A coulpe of my family members know about it and said that I'd best get on this right away - It Is Needed!! I read about getting a big company to back you up and I'd like some more information about this.
First of all I am in Canada and I would like to know how to aproach a big company about this. (My idea WOULD be boughten by this company for marketing). I know WHO I would go to, just not HOW. Or would I be better of going to an Amercian Company? Every home; every home with a child or animal could use this. I know I wish I had one ;-) Please help...Time is Running OUt !!!!

There are a number of good (and bad) sources of information
for inventors.  One good source is www.willitsell.com.  There
you will find some reasonable advice to inventors from someone
who may be selling a book, but who is certainly not trying to
bilk inventors out of thousands of dollars by trying to convince
them they will become millionaires.

While I have no specific opinion regarding the business advice offered at www.willitsell.com, I have corresponded extensively with the site's author and I do not recommend that site or its author as a good source for information regarding intellectual property law.

I've said many times that a patent can be essential but is almost never sufficient to capitalize a new idea.  And, I'm afraid I don't have a good recommendation for those aspects of capitalization that go beyond intellectual property.

Good luck!
