new tool

I have designed and built several derivitaves of a tool used in plant/tree grafting. Several involved in grafting has seen the device and advised it be patented. From my research into grafting tools, i've found nothing like it.
do you have suggested manufacturers? where do i start?

Wow! Well, it is best that you apply for a patent as soon as possible BEFORE you show it to any manufacturers or investors. You may choose to apply for a provisional patent (which offers no protection as such) but is only a time buying tactic. This is when you need time to convert your idea to an invention or still need to make adjustments to your prototype or perhaps are yet make a prototype. Do remember at the time of application to cover the broadest area your invention covers at the present or the foreseeable future. Also note it is essential you NOT miss the bar date of conversion of your provisional patent to a utility model within the period of one year. Miss this and you have missed your spot in the line!
