Patent name

Im trying to protect a business and or patent name. I don not have 100 dollors right now is there another way which would not cost me

I would like to register a unique name of a musical group that is known so that another group does not use the name and have people think they are us. What is the best way to go about doing this?

If you are actually using a business name in trade or commerce, you have acquired "common law" trademark rights already. State registration is ordinarily a waste of money; federal registration is rather expensive and may be unnecessary in your circumstances.
