Patent Reissue Application Declaration Signature

While working for company A I invented a device that saves the company approximately 10 million dollars annually. I had signed an intellectual property clause with that company. I no longer work for that company and they recently have contacted me requesting my signature to a reissue application declaration to broaden the original patent. They said they needed to do this because the invention was very successful and other international companies are trying to infringe on the invention. They offered me $500 for my signature. Is this a fair and customary fee for my signature or am I being taken advantage of? Considering the success of this invention should I be compensated more than this in order to broaden the patent?

Hi there,
It all depends on what the clause stated in your contract with Company A. Did the clause read as all IP created during the term of your contract shall belong to them?
If yes then perhaps you have indeed no right to seek loyalty. For further information, we would require the exact wording of that particular clause originally signed by you.
