Polymers and additives
Posted by Anonymous . updated on 10/3/2010
Hello, I am using a synthetic precipitated calcium carbonate 0.7 micron particle size in a polymer for a novel use, I have found a patent which describes a calcium carbonate which is made from ground limestone 20 microns particle size as a bulking agent to reduce cost. Please can you advise me if I will be in breach of this Patent.
The synthetic precipitated calcium carbonate would not necessary reduce the cost of the polymer by inclusion as it is valued at three times more expensive than ground limestone calcium carbonate. The synthetic calcium carbonate also has a different CAS Number.
Any advice would be most welcome , Kind regards Peter
