Trademarks, Patents, etc. required to manufacture clothing
Posted by . updated on 6/8/2004
I am considering starting a business to manufacture a specific type of clothing. The product would be chef pants, and the design I have in mind would be unique when compared to other chef pants available currently. Do I need to pursue some sort of patent, etc. for the design? If so, what is the first step in that process? Further, would this need to be obtained before formulating a business plan, seeking capital, etc.? Thank you for your time...

I don't do any of this type of work, but a friend of mine does. I would suggest that you contact Tim Dravis at Patent Development Services, Inc. 770-513-1238, tdravis@patentdev.com. I have taken the liberty of sending your question to him as a heads up that you may be calling. Good luck in your venture.
