What's the statistical average royalty income

Posted by Anonymous . updated on 2/26/2009
Would anyone know what the statistical average royalty income for inventors would be?

I know that each licensing deal is different but there must be a statistical data done through research that shows the average income for inventors....

If it helps, mine was 10% of gross, excluding any returns and discounts. I also had an extra percentage written into the contract for my sales. Good Luck!

is it enough for you to live on?

Hi,

Are you looking for average royalty rate or average royalty income.

Daretodream has actually given the royalty rate that was negotiated in his / her license agreement. For sure, this is not the best royalty rate, nor is it the worst.

Income however would be actually be royalty rate times sales. It is fair to say ..... one could have a great royalty but if there are no sales there would be no income.

Please remember that license agreements can be complex documents and the royalty rate is just one component that can translate into income.

Regards,

mike
