What are foreign patent treaties? Video Transcript

In this question I am going to talk about what are the foreign patent treaties. The US is a member of a number of foreign patent treaties including the Paris Convention Treaty and the Patent Cooperation Treaty. Both are seeking to harmonize the international patent laws so it is easier for applicants to file patents in multiple countries. Furthermore, there are a number of bilateral treaties with individual countries that are not members of the PCT across the world. In the European Union, there is also a European Patent Convention Treaty signed by European countries so that they can harmonize the patent laws across various European countries. So those are some of the different foreign patent treaties that are in effect today.
