What is the Paris Convention? Video Transcript

In this section, I am going to answer what is the Paris Convention. The Paris Convention is an organization that was formed when a number of countries got together and they signed a treaty that allows for one year to file an application in any one of those countries, which is called the convention country, based on the filing in any one of the member countries. So if you file a patent application in the US, instead of filing the international PCT, you can directly file an application in any one of the members of the Paris Convention Treaty and claim priority to the date of the US filing. So it hopes to harmonize the patent laws and helps to secure rights earlier for inventors in the member countries of this treaty.
