Which international treaties is the United States a party to? Video Transcript

So what are other international treaties that the US is a signatory to that is related to patent? There are some bilateral treaties such as between the US and China, US and Taiwan, US and India, and US and Thailand that actually allow for similar things as the Paris Convention, which reserves the right to file within one year after the filing in one of the host countries. So if someone files a patent in India, they have one year to file it in the US. If they filed it first in China, they have one year to file it in the US, preserving the date of priority of the earlier Chinese patent or the Indian patent application filing. Similarly, if someone first files a patent in the US, they have one year to file it in those countries where there is a bilateral agreement, even if they are not members of the Paris Convention Treaty.
