What are the remedies to patent infringement? Video Transcript

In this section, we are going to discuss what are some remedies for a patent infringement. There are several remedies available. One could be an injunction to stop someone from actually stop the infringer from practicing the patented claims. One could also seek a remedy which stops the importing of an infringing product into the United States where the patent protection is. There could be a request for compensatory damages which compensate the patent owner for the infringement over time because of sales and revenues and proceeds from the sales of those infringing products. There could be additional damages if the infringement is willful; there was notice that was put on the other party that they were infringing and they continued to infringe even after that notice. There could be treble damages in some instances where the compensatory damages are tripled.
