How do you find companies that pay you?

How do you find companies that pay you? Video Transcript

The question is are there companies that will pay you for your ideas? That is a broad question. If you have an invention that is protected by patents, there maybe some companies that will buy the patent or buy the license to that patent. There are jobs out there in most high tech companies or most large companies, where they take creative people and their main job is to invent things and come up with new ideas. So you might be one of the fortunate few that get in to those groups in the company and have the great job of inventing things and coming up in new ideas and getting patents written. Usually it is in the R&D division of a group and you need to prove your merit and know the right contacts to get in. But there are jobs that you can do that with. Now the thing is when you are in those jobs, you have to assign the inventions that you make to the company. So if you hope to protect it in your own, you might join a smaller company that basically is the think tank of like-minded people who want to invent together, such as the one on Patent Express or meet friends at different networking associations and contacts and start brainstorming.
