What is a Joint Ownership Agreement? Video Transcript

In this section, I am going to discuss what are joint ownership agreements. Joint ownership agreements are agreements between inventors or owners of patents which generally are used to resolve any issues that might arise with ownership. It might prohibit one of the parties from sub-licensing. Absent any joint ownership agreement, each party can sub-license to other people as much as they want. So the joint ownership agreement might prevent both inventors or both owners to sub-license to others their invention. The joint ownership agreement might also indicate ways of resolving disputes between inventors or owners in case of licensing negotiation or the best way to share in the profits from any licenses that might result from this agreement between the owners of the patent.
