We are going to discuss what are some good ways of finding a good patent attorney. Some of the good ways of finding a good patent attorney is through word of mouth and referrals and also doing a patent search, seeing whether some of the patent firms filing patents in your specific area and, more importantly, the patent firm which might have lots of attorneys as their particular attorney. Sometimes the name of that attorney is listed. Find patents that you think are in your area that you think are fairly good. They should not be exactly in your area because if they are exactly in your area, the patent attorney might actually represent your competitor and that is not the patent attorney you want to find. So the best source is the word of mouth in the end. If not word of mouth, you can do a search on the www.uspto.gov website for all attorneys look by city and interview a few. Find someone who knows your technology, who understands the engineering and the science and the law that is required to do a good job to protect your invention and who you trust. The most important thing is that someone that you trust and who is going to be there when you need them to help you and get the patent issued through the process.
